ⓘ Terminology · Quick guide
Charleston
The tile-passing rounds before play begins.
Natural tile
The actual tile shown in the target hand, rather than a joker.
Meld · pung · kong · quint
A group of matching tiles. A pung has three, a kong four, and a quint five. Jokers may fill groups of three or more, but not singles or pairs.
Concealed / exposable
A concealed hand must stay hidden until Mah Jongg. An exposable hand allows eligible groups to be shown during play.
Target / backup
Your chosen winning pattern and alternative hands worth keeping open.
Hand Potential
A relative score for how well a target fits your rack and its remaining requirements. It is not a percentage chance of winning.
Tile highlights
Green outlines mark natural tiles you already hold. Gold dashed outlines in your rack mark usable jokers.
