ⓘ Terminology · Quick guide
- Charleston
- The tile-passing rounds before play begins.
- Natural tile
- The actual tile shown in the target hand, rather than a joker.
- Meld · pung · kong · quint
- A group of matching tiles. A pung has three, a kong four, and a quint five. Jokers may fill groups of three or more, but not singles or pairs.
- Concealed / exposable
- A concealed hand must stay hidden until Mah Jongg. An exposable hand allows eligible groups to be shown during play.
- Target / backup
- Your chosen winning pattern and alternative hands worth keeping open.
- Hand Potential
- A relative score for how well a target fits your rack and its remaining requirements. It is not a percentage chance of winning.
- Tile highlights
- Green outlines mark natural tiles you already hold. Gold dashed outlines in your rack mark usable jokers.
